Contrary to popular belief, it is not enough to wait for the next rain to keep solar modules performing at their best. Our robots for solar cleaning ensure thorough and economical cleaning of large PV surfaces. In our range, you will find suitable cleaning solutions that meet your requirements.
Specially designed for PV roofs and open spaces from 2,000 m², our high-performance professional model excels where maximum cleaning performance is required. This makes it ideal for systems with high cleaning requirements and heavy soiling.
Our compact robot is the ideal solution for the efficient solar cleaning of small to medium-sized PV systems from approx. 50 to 2,000 m².
Effortless to handle – from its weight to its intuitive operation – it is also suitable for systems with a modular design.
Stubborn soiling such as lichens are often the ultimate challenge when cleaning PV systems. Not a problem for our lichen remover DIRT FORCE, which, as an accessory in combination with the solarROBOT pro, reliably frees your solar system from lichens.
Expand your system with our practical add-ons – for even more efficient processes, greater convenience and maximum flexibility. Whether accessories for the robot, manual hand brushes, water systems or van/trailer solutions – we complete your equipment.
Photovoltaic systems operate most efficiently when they are clean. However, soiling from dust, sand, pollen, ammonia, leaves or bird droppings requires regular solar cleaning depending on the location of the system. Otherwise, the performance drops significantly, so that economic losses of up to 30% can occur – even higher in particularly affected areas.
If a system is not maintained for years, a stubborn layer of dirt forms, which blocks the sunlight. This gradually reduces performance. In addition to the loss of yield, long-term damage to the coating and seals can also occur.
The use of unsuitable cleaning agents or methods can damage the surfaces. This in turn means that the performance is permanently reduced and economic losses can occur.
Dust
Dust and fine dust from agriculture, industry or road traffic
Pollen
Pollen and flower dust that are deposited seasonally on the modules
Bird droppings
Bird droppings that completely shade individual cells (hotspot formation)
Leaves
Leaves, needles and organic material that store moisture and promote algae formation
Moss & Lichens
Moss and lichen growth that attacks the module surface in the long term and “lives” on the modules
Ammonia
Ammonia deposits from stable air, which have a corrosive effect and occur mainly in agriculture
The costs for cleaning PV systems can vary depending on the degree of soiling. If the solar system is heavily soiled, e.g. by bird droppings or lichens, the surface must be cleaned with special equipment. Factors such as the accessibility of the system or the use of equipment (osmosis, robot, hand brush, etc.) also play a role. Typically, cleaning for commercial roof systems costs between 1 and 3 euros per square meter. Ideally, the cleaning costs can be offset against the additional yield. Use our loss calculator for this.
Contrary to popular belief, there is no so-called self-cleaning effect caused by rain. Thus, the usefulness of PV cleaning is strongly influenced by which external influences affect my PV system – agriculture, birds, trees or heavy industrial pollution.
If soiling occurs, it usually climbs from the bottom up and can lead to a drop in performance as well as damage to the panels. Regular cleaning can counteract this and maintain full performance.
Many cleaners use different cleaning methods depending on the surface requirements, such as surface size, access, design, surface condition. However, robots are clearly superior in terms of surface and cleaning performance: they work constantly, with larger brushes and without physical effort.
Hand brush: 50 to 200 m²/hour
Robot: 500 to 1,800 m²/hour
This means: maximum efficiency – especially for large photovoltaic systems.
The purchase of a cleaning robot can easily be justified by the saved yield losses. With our loss calculator, you can enter the feed-in tariff, system size, location and degree of soiling – and immediately calculate the estimated loss.
You can then compare this value with the purchase costs of the robot (small robot from EUR 19,900, large robot from EUR 34,000) or with the costs of a service. This depends on the required cleaning intervals.

Chemistry has its place in the cleaning industry. However, the same applies to PV systems as to facade cleaning: effective products must not be used in Germany without the dirt being collected. In practice, this is very difficult.
No need to worry: No cleaning agents are required for solar cleaning. Mechanical cleaning – ideally paired with osmosis water – has a thorough cleaning effect, is environmentally friendly and free of chemicals. For difficult cases such as lichens, there is special equipment, such as our high-pressure lichen remover.
Whether solar surfaces have been built as roof systems, open spaces or floating, or whether they are elevated, east-west or flat-mounted – our PV cleaning robots are suitable for a variety of PV surfaces. They relieve you of the physically strenuous work of manual hand brush systems and effectively support you in cleaning.
Large-scale cleaning with conventional hand pole systems is not only very time-consuming, but also physically demanding. The robots make the cleaner’s work much easier: they are conveniently operated by radio remote control from a safe environment – for example, a work basket – and achieve the best cleaning results in the shortest possible time thanks to high brush rotation.
Both models can be disassembled into brushes, chassis, control unit, hose guide, batteries and other accessories – for easy transport and convenient handling. The difference lies primarily in the weight of the components and in the brush width, which determines the surface performance.
While the solarROBOT compact is your perfect entry into professional PV cleaning, our high-performance professional model solarROBOT pro stands for maximum surface performance and innovative functions.
